LJ's newest ToS updates....they're not great. At all. In fact, they're fairly terrifying in their implications.
But this LJ has been a part of my life for....fuck me running, sixteen fucking years now. It's a record of the me of then. I can't just abandon it.
So I'm moving on. Dreamwidth lets me import everything -- comments, posts, icons, the whole shebang. So I'm going to be over there from now on. Same username and all, but someplace that feels a little more like this used to.
So I'll see you all on the flip side. I'll keep this archived here, but....yeah. Any future updates will be over there (http://ongoingepic.dreamwidth.org/), few and far between though they may be. I hope to see all of you -- all my old friends -- there.
Sir Terry Pratchett passed today. I was lucky enough to meet him once, and he was as wonderful in person as he was in his writing. Godspeed, Sir. You will be missed.
Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me, I'm one year closer to dying and I haven't yet conquered the world beneath my tread but I'm happily married so the me that started this journal would be surprised on a whole multitude of levels, happy birthday to me!

"Seriously, I figured that by this point I'd be ruling the world or dead. Married was never on that list of things. 18 year old me would never believe this sh*t."
TJ Class of 2001's 10th reunion shindigs were last night & today. Jessi & I went. It was great to see people I hadn't seen in so long, or even in a little while. But the neat thing was finally getting to show Jessi where I came from, in a very real way.
I don't know. I'm a little overwhelmed by nostalgia, but....in a good way, you know?
To sum up? It was a good day.

"Geoscience lives!"
Current Mood: nostalgic
Current Music:The Official "Word to Your Mother" soundtrack CD
Item 1) Armand "Samuel" Bucaycay Alacbay is the current head of the TJ Alumni Association.
Item 2) The 10th anniversary reunion of the class of 2001 is less than a month away. I will be in attendance.
Item 3) The cast and crew of "Doctor Who" made this video to celebrate David Tennant's tenure on the show. It was only released to the public less than a week ago.
Coincidence? I think NOT.

"It's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly.... timey-wimey.... googly.... stuff."
So, for those who aren't in the area/aware of it, we just had an earthquake hit -- 5.8 or 5.9 on the Richter scale, in Mineral, VA, with the shocks being felt as far as Quebec. We're all fine here, just to reassure.
It lasted maybe 10, 15 seconds; I noticed something shaking, and figured it was the heavy equipment that was being used nearby this morning. But it started shaking much harder, at which point the boss screamed for everyone to run outside, now!!!!! I walked out quickly. Got in touch with Jessi, who was off today, and confirmed that she and Madison (our cat) were fine.
So now I've experienced a relatively powerful earthquake. Something to check off the life experiences list, I suppose.

"Of course I'm fine -- I took Geoscience back in the day!!"
Oh, my childhood just got a helluva awesome shock.
This is the first 9 minutes of the new Thundercats remake that starts at the end of this month.
Except it's not a remake -- it's a SEQUEL.
I just watched this. And deep down within my cynical soul, a little 4 year-old me looked up at present-day me. And I looked back at my younger self. And my younger self leapt up into the air, and we fucking high-fived. Because this shit is AWESOME. You can have your Michael Bay Transformers and your GI Joe live-action movies. I've got THIS.

"Between this and My Little Pony, it's like I'm a little kid again -- except this time, I can buy AS MANY TOYS AS I WANT!!!!!"
